I've absolutely no idea what made me remember this homophone mistaken lyric from way back in my childhood...
I was always under the impression that Puff the Magic Dragon was brought ceiling wax. What is ceiling wax??? What do you do with it, use it to stick the strings to the ceiling??? ...Oh, you meant sealing wax... lol

In Killer Queen I thought the “absolutely drive you wild” part was “absolutely try new wines”, always seemed a bit weird to me how they were singing about wine but then again they mentioned caviar so I rolled with it. Didn’t know the real lyrics until I saw the Bo Rhap movie.

Mine from Killer Queen: I always thought "gelatine" was "turpentine", and that "temporarily out of gas" was "temporarily alley cat" (probably tricked into thinking that because of the "pussy cat" line that comes before it).

In Procol Harum's 'Cerdes (Outside The Gates Of)' I always hear "Geordie retail legends" when in reality the lyric is "Which only retell legends". I prefer my version.

Mrs Orioles has told me that as a teen, she thought Jeff was singing "Be the Woman!" in Evil Woman or to fit the music "Be..EE the Woman!". Puts quite a different spin on the song.

For the longest time, I didn't know the name of the Ramones' song "Blitzkrieg Bop," because I had only heard it on the radio and not seen the song title written down. I thought they were singing "let's kick bum," instead of "blitzkrieg bop."

Just found out about this one last week... In ‘Starlight’ I thought that “you gotta stop foolin’ around” was “you got shot fallin’ in love”.

I also just recently found out that in Big Wheels, the line “I remember the dead of night” is not “I remember the day that night” but I kinda like my misheard version better...more ~mysterious~

Misheard lyrics, Traveling Wilburys edition: I thought that “I see the sun ahead” in Heading for the Light was “I see the summer haze”. That’s probably my favorite song off that album, though I really can’t choose between it and Rattled...and Handle With Care. They are all so good!!!

Somebody to Love by Queen - It depends on the version, but I keep hearing "each morning I get impetigo" for "each morning I get up I die a little". It's in the live versions I hear this.

In When Time Stood Still, I could not make out "no Vincent, Toulouse or Pablo." I had absolutely no idea what JL was singing there until I looked it up.

Well you learn something new every day, I thought that line was “no body’s there no one at all”

Horacewimp You're right. That's what he sings in one place, but later it changes. Take a look here. (I even quoted the names in the wrong order in my post. ) When Time Stood Still
Electric Light Orchestra
Far beyond the things you see Time rolls on eternally Got a thing about it Just can't live without it Sitting there inside your mind Just waiting for the clock to chime On a lonely line Stood a lonely man No pictures on an empty wall No body there no one at all Just echoes in the ivory halls When time stood still Days line up outside the door Thought time had stopped there was no more Been a lonely world Such a lonely world No pictures on an empty wall No Toulouse, Vincent, or Pablo Just echoes in the ivory halls When time stood still No big machine or April showers No submarines no plastic flowers Just echoes in the ivory towers When time stood still When time stood still When time stood still When time stood still Source: LyricFind Songwriters: Jeff Lynne When Time Stood Still lyrics © Sony/ATV Music Publishing LLC
