Kelly Groucutt died ten years ago, February 19, 2009, from a heart attack. I still miss him.

Kelly singing a song he wrote himself, at a venue in the West Midlands, the year before he died.
Rest in peace, Kelly, you gave joy to so many people.

I can't believe it was so long ago, it was a terrible shock to hear the news. He always seemed to be having a brilliant time on stage and was blessed to be doing what he loved for a living, sad that it had to finish too soon.

It was 10 years ago today, 2/19/2009-2/19/2019, but on a Thursday, that American Renolit laid me off, when I came home to find out Kelly Groucutt, bass player of my all-time favorite band, Electric Light Orchestra, had tragically died from a heart attack at only 63 years old, then no In Memoriam tribute for him by The Recording Academy / GRAMMYs in 2010 and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame snubbed him in 2016-2017, along with his son Chris Groucutt dead just over 2 years ago now.

Twist Of The Knife - one fine song from a great singer, songwriter - and a lefty playing the bass right-handed

I was privileged to see him onstage, as part of ELO Pt 2. I can recall queuing to see the band in Shepherd's Bush along the street where the stage door was. Kelly wandered along to the door chatting and laughing with people.
Lovely chap
(I'm smiling because I remember that part of his character - and just how good he was)

And...
in one of those Pt 2 performances (when my mate poked me in the ribs saying "that's the SIXTH vocalist!") Kelly took lead vocals on 'Big Wheels'.
Magic, it was!
