I am looking for ELO song books for TIME, SECRET MESSAGES, and BALANCE OF POWER. I am not sure if they exist. I couldn't find them back in the 80's

What do you mean by songbooks exactly?

Books with sheet music. There is a lot of individual song sheets out there. I collect those and they are hard to find if not buying off the web.

I have a recollection of seeing Time back in the day, but doubt SM or BOP were ever released. Discovery and Anthology were the only ones I had. God knows what happened to them, which is a little annoying

I've just put 'Electric Light Orchestra sheet music' into google shopping and there are quite a few to be had.

Typical examples of ELO sheet music are just for singles, with the majority I've seen online being the really big mid-to-late '70s era hits. Saying that, I believe there were definitely books representing at least Discovery and Time, if not possibly Out Of The Blue or A New World Record as well. However, I wouldn't suggest you look for these expecting any to faithfully cover what Jeff originally wrote - the only title in my collection (Rockaria!) has a few minor errors, which is common for such titles - they're usually produced without an artist's input by publishing companies or even independent scholars unfamiliar with the songs contained in them beyond their needing to analyse these for a paid job! Anyone familiar with Radiohead's catalogue will know how bad some of their very loose "official" interpretations turned out, though fans thankfully didn't take long to do a much better job of more accurately transcribing this band's guitar parts, which is the main reason anyone I knew ever wanted them for.
P.S. Has anyone considered searching for books compiling songs from various artists of the '70s? I bet the odd ELO track has turned up in those over the years...

I‘m quite sure it never existed. I have all ELO songbooks, and i never found one for time, sm or bop.

I wonder why 'Time' was never issued? fair enough if it's an album such as 'ELO 2' or whatever but 'Time' was one of their biggies!
