I thought I'd start a Queen thread because we haven't got one and there's much in the Queen world for the ELO fan to enjoy.
For example, this Louis Clark conducted gem, it has a little bit of a 'One Summer Dream' feel to the opening I think -

queenofthehoursI love me some Queen... and I LOVE Teo Torriatte... Oh my god. It's so dramatic, nostalgic, romantic and beautiful... I still remember the first I heard it. I was blown away by it's beauty! It's everything. Absolute perfection!

Teo Torriatte was written by Brian May. Brian May wrote another of my absolute favorite Queen songs: Long Away

I was blown away by it's beauty! It's everything. Absolute perfection! It took a couple of listens before I fell in love with 'Teo Torriatte' but now I think it's incredible. Who'd have thought Queen would release a track with Japanese lyrics?
I adore 'Long Away' too. It sounds like something Jeff might write. Brian May is an overlooked genius. There are far too many Queen songs that people don't know enough about.

When they next make a Queen tribute album, they should ask Jeff to cover 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love'. I think he'd sing it perfectly, he could even incorporate it in his live set. It would certainly spice the ELO set list up a bit and it wouldn't stand because Jeff's such a rockabilly fan.

Jeff changing the playlist? Don't be daft....

I commend this idea to the house, although as Timeblue says it's sadly unlikely to happen

Now, we know that part of the madness of being an Electric Light Orchestra fan is the ability to spot ELO connections everywhere don't we? We are so primed that even the mention of a "chicane" will get us excited.
But you really know you're addicted to ELO when...you spot "Jeff Lynne" at a Queen gig (1.06) -
I was watching the Queen Rock Montreal DVD today, this time with Brian and Roger's commentary, and noticed "Jeff" for the first time. I was so surprised I actually jumped in my seat and was about to report on this spotting to the forum when I heard Roger say - "just saw Jeff Lynne in the audience there...what's he doing there?"
Apparently Roger Taylor is One Of Us.
Roger Taylor is clearly on the same spiritual plain as we are and can spot a "Jeff" as fast as any of us. I suggest we adopt Rog as a kind of rock patron saint for our forum.

Maybe this should have gone into the "Sights and Sounds" thread but it isn't my observation, it's Roger Taylor's so that's why it's in the Queen thread.
I've found further evidence to add to the above post I made about Roger catching a glimpse of "Jeff Lynne" in the audience at his own gig. This video features the actual commentary I mentioned and you can hear when Roger spots Jeffrey at around 0:58 -
That Roger is as good as we are at spotting random ELO in the world must surely mean he is our kindred spirit?

Queen + Adam Lambert are also currently touring North America.
This is from Wednesday's opening night in Vancouver -
Just imagine Jeff employing this set design for his next tour. Those lights and that dramatic opening would be ideal for the bearded one to freshen up his stage show. Just imagine the ELO spaceship rising into the air in place of that massive Queen crown. No excuses Jeffrey, if Queen can do it you can too.
Queen are playing almost exactly the same venues as Jeff so I don't see why they can't meet up and share ideas. After all, they play Pittsburgh only a day apart and there's evidence above that shows Jeff has been spotted in Montreal! .

Excellent news. This weekend 'Bohemian Rhapsody' reached over 1B views on YouTube.
Apparently it's the first song released before the '90s to reach such a milestone.
A campaign has also been created for any dancers, singers, musicians and visual artists to take part in creating three new Queen videos: www.youarethechampions.com/

Anyone else read or hear about Jeff and Freddie supposedly doing some work together at some point? Mack connection?

I Googled that, and up came a six degrees of Jeff Lynne link to Freddie (not one degree story you are looking for, but a start). groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/alt.music.elo/_hm_Hou2Vcc Let's see....Jeff Lynne to Freddie Mercury. 1) Jeff "produced" John Lennon (and the other Beatles) on "Free As A Bird." 2) John performed with Elton John on several songs, including "Whatever Gets You Through The Night." 3) Elton teamed up with George Michael on the remake of "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me." 4) George Michael performed "Somebody to Love" with the surviving members of Queen. 5) And Queen, of course, is forever linked to Freddie Mercury. or this alternative gets there one step faster and uses links while the people were actually alive Jeff Lynne to Freddie Mercury: 1) Jeff worked with Olivia Newton-John for Xanadu. 2) Olivia Newton-John was in "She's Having A Baby" with Kevin Bacon. 3) Bacon worked with Phil Collins in the cartoon "Balto." 4) Collins was in "The Magic Years, Vol. 2" with Mercury.

Here's info about the campaign to get fans in involved in the making of three new music videos Queen are creating to celebrate 'Bohemian Rhapsody' reaching 1B views on YouTube.
www.youarethechampions.com/ For musicians and singers there is the opportunity to be a part of a new 'BoRhap' video. Here's what the website says - Submit a video of you playing or singing the song. You can do the whole thing or your favorite section. Use any instrument, with any number of performers, and give it everything you’ve got!
For dancers, there's an instructional video created Rami Malek's movement coach to learn this dance for 'Don't Stop Me Now' -
The website says you can - learn the dance, perform it, and record it. You can focus on one section or do the entire dance.
And for visual artists there the chance to work on 'A Kind of Magic' - Choose one word or phrase from the song's lyrics and design something personalized. Paint, draw, animate - whatever you'd like to do - then upload an image or movie of your work. If you'd prefer to create something for the instrumentals, animate a 5-second section that speaks to you. I know there are plenty of excellent musicians here on our forum who could easily send something great into the project and some artists too. But are there any brave dancers? There isn't a rule that says you even have to be a big Queen fan to join in! And who wouldn't want their work to appear in a video watched by what could be millions of people around the world?
