Stay safe in the unpleasant weather, eloneen! Mr. Bluebird probably wouldn't mind if you borrowed our snow blower. Is 8" of snow unusual for you? That sounds like it might be more than you are used to getting! Our outside decorations haven't gone up yet. The tiny tree we have is left up all year (we are too lazy to take it down, haha), but we only light it up about now.

Thanks BIuebird We get some snow most years, but it's usually not anything major, and we don't usually get so much at one time. However, storms like this are not unheard of. We get a big winter weather event every few years or so. We had a major snow in January. This is extremely early for a major snow event for us in any case. Some locations in our county got over 14" yesterday! We had a couple of hours of sleet and freezing rain earlier this morning, but the snow is coming down really hard again right now!! It's beautiful! I doubt we'll be in school tomorrow.

eloneen I thought it sounded like a lot at once. It is still a little early for a big snowstorm. We had a snow storm in October several years ago, that was really unusual. Yeah, I bet you won't have school tomorrow. We probably wouldn't either, in the same circumstances. Wow, 14" is quite a lot of snow! At least it sounds like you are more equipped to deal with snow than my poor friends in Georgia. One year they got 4" of snow, and everything was closed for a whole week, no exaggeration.

BIuebird The snow is still coming down at a steady clip, continuing later today than they said it would. Yesterday's snowfall alone exceeds what we normally get in an entire year!! School is closed for tomorrow. What you said about Georgia sounds about right. When I was growing up in Louisiana, even the slightest little hint of snow meant school was closed, which made sense, because there was no equipment to deal with it.

Stew's the better choice I suppose. More appropriate for cold weather than munching on a giant plate of beef fudge!

eloneenYikes! At least you get to enjoy another snow day. That makes sense. My friend said the city of Atlanta has a grand total of two snow plows, which also have to clear the neighboring cities! If Mr. Bluebird and I ever move there, we could probably make some extra money by clearing snow. We would probably be the only ones around with a snow blower and extra shovels.

elophile You know, I just thought about Mexican mole, which can be made with chocolate and served with meat...I've never tried it, but everyone I know who's had it raves about it.

eloneen Yikes! I lived in Atlanta for a few years, and I have friends and family there now. There are a lot of transplants living there, some from other places in the south and some from colder climates, so you could probably pick up a few employees for your snow clearing business and still earn a pretty penny!

I couldn't believe it! In Penny's this AM and this song came on! Sadly not Woody, the man sounded 'Merican and the music didn't have Woody's jive. I can make a bet not a soul in that store had a clue about the history of this song.

The view about 10:00 AM yesterday from our back door into our neighbors' back yard (with our poor snow-covered little charcoal grill in the foreground). Good golly! I think it finally stopped snowing about two hours ago! It's all looking very pretty and Christmas card perfect --for now. I'll just enjoy it before it turns to a dirty, gray, messy slush!

Georgia sounds a bit like what we happens in the United Kingdom when we have a few inches of snow
