That's great! I remember reading this article a while back, before we discovered the apple pie and ELO dream connection. Sounds like a fun guy and a really devoted fan! No one in my family had any ELO dreams last night, unfortunately. I can only have a little bit of pie because of food sensitivities, so I may not have had enough to provoke a dream, but I do believe that I am otherwise an excellent experimental subject. My family may not be as sensitive to such things as I am. They might have ELO tunes playing as the soundtrack of their dreams, and they might not even notice. What a pity!

hmm, the article says he had never been to an ELO concert - surely he corrected that in the last couple of years and he has a full album's worth of ELOish songs that he's written wonder if he would post an example or two to the thread of forum member ELO tribute songs?

orioles70 Wow, now that's dedication! That is very interesting about his dreams, too. I had a similar prophetic dream before, but not an ELO-related one. When I was in college, I dreamed that Michael Stipe was substituting for one of my art professors. It was a funny dream. He told me he liked my work, but I was so flabbergasted that I couldn't say anything... and then I spent the rest of the dream hiding behind a potted plant because I was embarrassed. Anyway, several years later, after R.E.M. disbanded, Michael actually ended up teaching some art classes at NYU (not my college, but still an interesting coincidence). I have yet to see whether any of my ELO-related dreams were prophetic, we'll have to wait and see. eloneen That sounds like a relaxing snow day! I hope the forecast is wrong about the sleet and freezing rain, though. I think those are worse than snow, especially if you have to do any driving.

I'm here to confirm that no decorations will be put up in Musette Towers until the week before Christmas, and they'll be back down again by the end of Christmas week. Any Christmas Carollers knocking the door will be sent packing unless it's Christmas Eve. Seems fair to me *nods*

We only put up some of our decorations yesterday, but Mother Nature has been creating some Christmas ambiance for us here in NC. BSJ Can I borrow your shovel? We've got over 8" of snow already, and now 1-3" more precip predicted today, a wintry mixture of snow, sleet, and freezing rain. I think the pretty scenery will be over soon and we will just have a cold, dangerous mess. I'm predicting another day off tomorrow. Still cooking up good food here, though!

elophile I'm the only one up at my house right now (the luxury of a snow day), but I had some dark chocolate and almond granola with almond milk (so good ), and more of the chicken sausage from yesterday. I'm not sure what I'll prepare later, but it will involve beef, since that is what I have thawing in the fridge right now. I'll let you know once I decide!

How about this snazzy little recipe? NO? lol I've been watching this woman - she cooks all these INSANE RETRO recipes.

Thanks for that elophile ! This is incredible!! I watched part of it and thought EEWWW!! Then I scrolled through to the end....I'll just have to take her word for it that it tastes good. It has ingredients in it that I can't have with my food intolerances, which is just as well. I won't be preparing this any time soon. I can think of much tastier ways to enjoy beef and chocolate- but separately!

Timeblue You will be pleased to know that we have not put up our Christmas decorations yet. I'm thinking that putting them up will be a good snow day family bonding activity over the next few days. Traditionally, the 8th of December, being a Church and school holiday, was a good day to start Crimbo shopping. It was also the ideal day for Christmas lights to be switched on.
In my home, decorations didn't go up 'til the last weekend before the 25th. Practical, really, because they'd stay up for the duration - until the 6th of January - Epiphany.
Crimbo? What a lot of my English colleagues call Christmas.

tremblinwilbury Here in the US, many people put up decorations for Christmas in late November, right after Thanksgiving. We typically get started the weekend after Thanksgiving, but we traveled out of state this year, spent more time away from home during the Thanksgiving break, and came home tired. We're taking advantage of this unexpected time off to get caught up. It actually does feel kind of magical with all the snow. We take our decorations down at Epiphany, too.
