On this day when we remember the 100th anniversary of the end of "the war to end all wars," and honor those who have served.... Thanks to all of the military veterans (and their families!) who have faithfully served their respective countries in the armed forces to make the world safer for the rest of us. Thank you for your service and your sacrifice!

Timeblue My dad was a WWII veteran, as well. He served in the (segregated) US Army in Britain and France during World War II. He drove trucks that hauled bombs, since black soldiers were not generally placed in combat roles during that time. My uncle, aunt, father-in-law, cousins, husband and nephew have all served honorably in various branches of the US Armed Forces, some as career service men and women.

I watched the Peter Jackson film 'They Shall Not Grow Old' last night. It was really affecting.
