Wow, what an amazing time we had in Philly! We all met up at my parents' house before the show to have dinner. My dad took a photo of my mom, Mr. Bluebird, and myself with our "Electric Flight Orchestra" shirts on, in the back yard. Yes, my purse is a chicken, too.
After dinner, we headed on our way to the Wells Fargo Center. Unfortunately we hit a lot of traffic, because apparently there was a Phillies game last night too... and the baseball stadium is right next to the venue! I was having a bit of a panic attack about being late, but we arrived and found our seats just in time at 8:00, right before Dhani Harrison took the stage. We were lucky to get close seats this time; we were in the closest tiered section to the left side of the stage, in row 6. It was a side view, but we had an excellent view of the band. The only downside is that I think we were too far to the side to be seen in the band's selfie picture at the end. Waiting for the show to start! Those bands I'm wearing aren't a fashion statement, by the way. They are anti-nausea bands, because I get so anxious about fun things that I often make myself feel sick. It's pathetic, I know. My brother is actually in between my mom and me, but he didn't want his picture taken so he leaned back, haha!
We enjoyed Dhani's set, and he really does sound so much like his dad. Unfortunately, most of my pictures of his set came out a little blurry... my guess is it was because the lights were low, and I really don't like to use the flash at concerts if I can help it. I always worry about blinding the musicians! I also just brought my phone instead of the fancy camera I took to Arizona (more on that trip later, when I get a chance to upload the numerous photos!), because I mainly wanted to focus on watching the show. I did manage to get this not-too-blurry shot from Dhani's set: Everyone was so excited for Jeff's set to start! The crowd was cheering even before the band took the stage, I think just seeing the space ship on the screen got everyone on the edge of their seats.
I know that there are still some people who don't want setlist spoilers, so I'll just post the rest of the pictures without captions. I will say that Mr. Lynne and the band were all in fine form as always, and the crowd was very responsive. I think Jeff must have liked the Philly crowd, because we got a few more comments from him between songs than I think is usually typical of him. He said something to the effect of being glad to be back in Philadelphia in less than "a bloody year." I was also particularly excited about the little spoiler concerning the setlist posted above; I wonder if that was a new set staple, or just for our show? Fair warning, I am pretty sure that some these are out of order!
I also took a few video clips, but I am not sure if anyone would be interested in seeing them? There are better videos on YouTube from people with more sophisticated equipment. Also, some of the pictures make it look like we were further from the stage than we actually were; we were really close! The crowd was great too, lots of people on the floor were on their feet dancing. I wanted to, but we were in front of some people that I don't think could really stand for a good portion of the show. Plus, my dancing leaves much to be desired. My family loved the show! They were all very impressed with how great Jeff and Co. sounded, and how the band was able to replicate the sound of their recordings. My dad said he hopes they will come back to Philly, so maybe if they do, we'll get to go again! We finished out the night by picking up some stuff from the merch stand. We didn't have time to before the show, since we had gotten stuck in traffic and had to rush in so as not to miss the opening set. I picked up a program and a tote bag, since I got a t-shirt last year and the choices were similar. All in all we had a fantastic time, and I hope we get the opportunity to see them again at some point!
