If ever we have a meet up in Argentina, this is the place to stay! Definitely, but you have to have company! This reminds me... My father is a very absentminded person. He once went to the town near our family's land and stayed overnight in a hotel. Next day he went to meet with a local family to do some business. They asked him where he had stayed for the night and when he answered he noticed that the guys didn't answer back but instead started directing knowing looks and smiles at each other. Then one of them explained him that this hotel he had stayed at was really a telo... Only my father could fall at a telo and not realize. I wonder what the porter thought when he saw this man asking for a room for himself alone...

Form an orderly queue, first come first served...

First come, first served... second come, second served... and that's pretty much it for the day...

What an interesting thread, I'd never really considered this aspect of modern living but telos make a lot of sense. And it's good that they are such a normal part of life too; if they were suddenly introduced here they would have a much more seedy reputation.
People who don't live in Argentina must just be more inventive. Or turn more of a blind eye - I once read a book about a woman who went to live in the Outer Hebrides where it's sparsely populated and everyone knows everyone else. And it's really cold a lot of the time so outdoor activities can be counter-productive, ahem. Anyway, they get together in each others' houses a lot of the time and after one such gathering it was discovered that a local courting couple were getting it on behind the door which opened against the wall. Everyone just laughed, it was pretty normal apparently. But it was quite a few years ago, these days people might not be so open minded.
