I didn’t hear it myself but I’ve read reports that Chris Evans from BBC Radio 2 stated he was to broadcast from Bungalow Palace later in the year when Jeff’s new album is due to come out. Let’s hope it true.

Oh, I hope it's true! It seems odd to release it after the tour, though... unless he's planning on debuting some new stuff on tour? But, I am probably getting ahead of myself!

The full quote from Chris Evan's Breakfast Show this morning on pitching new ideas for his show in October: "Well let's... maybe every fourth Friday, people love the Friday show anyway, but maybe every fourth Friday... we're on location for a reason. So for example if an artist has an album out, and they're willing to play live for us, maybe we could go to their house, and bring the other guest to their house and have breakfast with them in their house or their recording studio... because Jeff Lynne's got his album coming out in I think September or October so we could go to his house... we just do the show from the house of the artist who has the album out and they play live in their living room or whatever... so we're going to Jeff Lynne's house..." I feel as though this is solely set up for Chris Evans to go to Jeff's house and nothing else!

Hmmm. If this is really going to happen in LA in September or October, it would probably need to be early September at the end of the US tour and before heading off for the UK/European end of the tour, or at the end of October when the whole tour ends. I can't imagine Jeff Lynne flying home for this between tour dates otherwise. If this is happening on a 4th Friday, though, it probably will need to be in August or November because he's nowhere near LA during that time. However, if JL still has a home in the UK, the 4th Friday in September or October would not be as inconvenient, based on planned tour dates... Interesting, indeed... Thanks Horacewimp and gordonlynne !

Aren't the singles being re-released in September www.ftmusic.com/news/index.htmlindeed, the remastered singles album is being released Friday, Sept 21st Jeff has said he is working on new songs. It would be difficult to finish new material while touring. If there's a truly new album coming, it may take a bit longer than September. Hope I'm wrong, though.

Can't really imagine it's a new studio album. Gotta be the singles box.

I can't really imagine it would a singles box set as that isn't an album. It makes prefect sense to launch a new album just before the UK part of the tour. The UK is is ELO's biggest fanbase and Jeff Lynne's home, whether or not he lives there all the time.

And Mr Evans had the exclusive first play of "When I was a Boy" way back in 2015!

I'm still sticking to my hope that the album tour will be 2019.
