I have two versions of the UK release of Roll Over Beethoven, Harvest HAR 5063. One of them is the general release with Queen of the Hours on the 'B' side. My other one has Manhatten Rumble (49th Street Massacre) on it's 'B' side. What I'm wanting to know is this second release an early promotional copy which was only sent out to disc jockey's, or was it on general sale? I bought the one with Manhatten Rumble from a night club disc jockey in the 1973.
Both singles have the same catalogue number.
Here are images of both discs. Attachment Deleted Attachment DeletedCheers,
Dave

Hi Dave, According to the Record Collector magazine from October 1994 ELO were under pressure from EMI to release Roll Over Beethoven/Queen Of The Hours was first released in the USA.
It was later released in the UK with "Manhattan Rumble" on the flip side though was "inexplicably withdrawn" and replaced with a new B-side "Queen Of The Hours". I know it doesn't say why but the Manhattan Rumble as a B-side was the original issue. Roll Over Beethoven/Manhattan Rumble was issued in the UK on general release and as a Demo.

Hi ootbartifacts, Thanks for the info, I thought it was strange releasing a single with two different 'B' sides.
I actually prefer "Manhatten Rumble" over "Queen of the Hours".

While looking through my collection, I found that apart from the United Kingdom pressings of Roll Over Beethoven which featured Manhattan Rumble on the flip side there were 4 other countries that pressed Roll Over Beethoven with Manhattan on the B-side - New Zealand, Venezuela, Brazil and Yugoslavia. To my knowledge none of those were withdrawn and replaced with any other song? Click the image to enlarge.

I've noticed that the one on the Odeon label has a printing error.
It says (9th Street Massacre) instead of (49th Street Massacre).

I love it when there are typos. Like US's B side of "Showdown". Someone threw in the word 'An' in the title "In An Old England Town".

Some of the labels on the unauthorised Korean pressings make me chuckle, here is one example. Attachment Deleted

This Warner Brothers "On the Third Day" has "Dreaming of 4000" as "I'm Only Dreaming"
Very Strange indeed.
