What a magnificent version of "Jungle", eloneen , thanks! It gave me the chills. I listened to it with earphones and you could really feel the punch of the bass which enhanced the song even more. They repeated a few extra times the long line in the end, and I liked how the public kept on clapping once the song was over. Listening to it live for the very first time makes me think what a pity it is that Jeff never played it. Hey, what a production the whole show has! Many musicians onstage, the instruments, the lights, the vocals... there's a lot of work behind that. It's not a show for a bar or pub because they need a lot of space onstage, pretty much like ELO. I would love for Jeff to find this on Youtube. I'm pretty sure he see's stuff there from a few comments he has made in the past.

Since this concert, I have a new fondness for the song "Jungle" that has really surprised and delighted me- due to the memories of hearing it live and singing along with the band (and the recording) no doubt. (Hear that, Helmut83 ? ) Hubby and I both have had the "Jungle" earworm experience. Happy happy me! wiggle

That is fantastic, eloneen , I'm glad the skies opened up for you and a brilliant beam enlightened you and allowed you to appreciate and enjoy this wonderful Jeff Lynne composition. I'm expecting the veil will part for others as well so the Jungle fans club keeps on growing.

Think we need an update of a flash mob dancing to this song with these moves. (Paula Abdul, eat your heart out!)

I poked around a bit online and saw that ANWR performed in August 2016 at the same venue where I saw them in July of this year, but nothing else as far as past performances are concerned. Nigel Holland has a couple of other bands that he manages, so I guess he stays pretty busy.
Only two shows for ANWR in over a year, though? I wonder why? I really hope this band takes off! They're so good!! I'm going to keep my eyes open for next year's concert, if not something sooner, and we'll make a point to be there in Virginia Beach again!
Any other (good) tribute bands that regularly tour in the US? I'm ready for another concert!

based on their web site - 1 past event - was the one you attended in VA Beach perhaps they were doing a trial run to see how much demand there is? a similar tribute show came to Baltimore couple of years ago as a Beatles experience
could be hard to make it work financially since they need so many players based on the song samples, they are pretty good must have put in some work preparing but hard to compete when Jeff is touring

orioles70 They also performed at least once the year before, but I didn't see them until last summer. I hope they keep it up. Maybe they can hit some towns where Jeff and the band are not playing in the summer, or at least before/after the tour ? They're really good!

FYI for all of you who liked what you heard from ANWR when I created this thread last year: ANWR will be performing again this summer, this time in southern MD. Unfortunately for me, the date of their concert 8/23/18 is the night before the ELO Philly gig, and I won't be able to make it (but hey, I get to see the real thing. I'll get over it! ) Unlike last year's ANWR gig that I attended, this concert is not a free one. Tickets cost $15.00. That's a good sign for them that they are charging now for tickets! cbresortspa.ticketleap.com/a-new-world-record-an-electric-light-orchestra-tribute/Thanks to orioles70 for finding this!

I just spent some time looking at the website for the resort where ANWR will be playing. Throughout the summer, their venue hosts numerous tribute concerts for a variety of artists-- Fleetwood Mac, Prince, Journey, Van Halen, AC/DC, etc. Sounds like a good move for ANWR to get on their schedule!

The ELO tribute band A New World Record will be performing in Virginia again this summer, on July 11, in Hampton. They are definitely worth seeing!! Tickets are $8 until July 7, and $10 after that. I will probably not be able to make it because I'm working that day and the next at my summer job and it's a 3 hour + drive from where I live. I'm a trainer and supervisor for a very small team at that job, so I really can't miss a day... I'll look around to see if they have any other performances and I will report back. www.eventbrite.com/e/a-new-world-record-a-tribute-to-the-electric-light-orchestra-tickets-58418125185I think they are gaining some traction: Edit: On their Facebook page, they mention planned concerts after the initial one in Virginia: CA, NM, FL, NY, NH, and GA www.facebook.com/ANewWorldRecord/Looks like they had a show in Norfolk, VA, in November of last year, too.
